I have a pretty simple job working as a janitor at a nursing home. It’s not the most special job, but I do enjoy talking with the residents there. I go to all of their rooms and clean everything up and change the trash bags. I’m glad that I don’t have to deal with people throwing up or anything nasty like that, so it’s not such a bad job. One thing that I really think is great for the residents is the HVAC system at this nursing home. They have a ductless HVAC system with individual HVAC units in every room. The residents all have access to a remote to adjust the temperature control settings as they please. I wouldn’t say that the rooms are luxurious or anything like that, but having your own access to customized temperature control settings was something that made staying there worth it. Most of the people were friendly and I enjoyed talking to them, except for this one lady who would always give me a hard time for no apparent reason. I could kind of understand her frustration, she didn’t have anybody visit her, and she seemed to be entirely miserable. Eventually after talking to her for awhile, she finally started opening up. She turned out to have a rather nice personality when you got past her nasty attitude. She would still give me a hard time every so often, but I would always joke with her about things and got her laughing. There were a lot of interesting people living at the nursing home, and it’s a place I’m not sure I want to leave just yet. If I made more money, I would probably make this a permanent career.
