My daughter was going to an amazing college that wasn’t far from our home.

When she said she was accepted and going to attend the school, we were thrilled. We had never told her which school we had gone to, but we did then. I was already happy to see she had also earned a partial scholarship to attend the school. When we dropped her off that afternoon, I was concerned with the air quality in the school. My husband joked that it may be the same HVAC system that was there when we attended. I knew it couldn’t be. That was nearly twenty-five years earlier. Within a month, our daughter was complaining about how uneven the temperatures were in the school and the dorms. She said that some of the students were starting a petition to have the HVAC system replaced. They had taken temperature readings, humidity readings and air quality readings, from nearly every area of the campus. The only place with good HVAC was where the office was located. They had their own HVAC system. My husband went over to the college and offered to look at the HVAC system. His professional opinion was that they needed a new HVAC system for the campus and it needed to be integrated. He put in a bid for the job, and told them that integration would make it easier to adjust the HVAC in every building. Two weeks later, his HVAC company was working on campus. They were hired to replace the entire HVAC system, and to run the integration process.
