It took myself and others a long time to finally realize that my life was on a completely unsustainable schedule. And it was effecting every aspect of my life. Yet, like a runaway train, I just didn’t assume how to stop it or get off it. So I felt like I was simply trapped riding it out. That all changed when the pandemic hit. I remember sitting in the comfort of our zone controlled Heating & A/C offices when I got the new that the office would be closing. There were to be layoffs and almost everyone else would be toiling from beach house in their own air conditioner. This was not exactly a shock given what was happening all across the country. Still, I was scared yet hopeful that I would be 1 of those toiling from their own air conditioner. It turned out I was able to keep my job. While I had to do without the bonus structure and the zone control air conditioner of the office, I could deal with it. What I didn’t realize was that this ended up being a gift. Suddenly, that non stop schedule of responsibilities was checked at the front door. All that mattered was me, my fiance, my dog and my cabin on a day to day basis. And this was interesting. It was the first time that I was able to easily get into getting things done around the house. Like I got all the Heating & A/C stuff done on time, all year. The Heating & A/C air filter was changed each month. And the heating service was done on time in the fall as was the air conditioner tune up in the fall.
