Nobody in my HVAC company is prepared to run it, and that is making me pretty nervous about the future of my HVAC company.
When I started this HVAC company, I did not have an end date in mind.
I only started the HVAC company because I wanted to be independent. As a regular HVAC technician, I was making good money, but I was mainly building the wealth of the owner of the HVAC company. I realized that if I wanted to make more money with less supervision, I would need to start my own HVAC company, which is exactly what I did. As I got older, I realized that I would have to do something with my HVAC company once I died. It was very important to me that I pass on the HVAC company or have a plan in case something ever happened. I figured as my retirement came closer, I would have a better idea of what I would want to do with the HVAC company. Obviously, I would love to pass the HVAC company on to an HVAC technician that has been working for my HVAC company. Sure, I could probably make more money by selling the HVAC company to someone, but it would be really cool to help out an HVAC technician that I trust. Unfortunately, there is nobody in the HVAC company that I think would do a good job. I don’t know if it is the fault of the other HVAC technicians or myself. I could have done a better job training leaders in my HVAC company, but I did not. Hopefully, I can change that before I end up retiring, or I will have to sell the HVAC company instead.
