Last night, I didn’t get any sleep at all.
My air conditioner failed on me shortly after I left for work yesterday morning, as far as I can tell.
By the time I arrived back home, my house was hot and humid. What a shock it was to walk inside my front door expecting nice, cool air without even thinking about it, only to be met with oppressive heat! I panicked and checked the thermostat. The battery level was high, and it seemed to be working just fine. I wouldn’t be able to tell the first thing wrong with my A/C, so I knew I needed a professional HVAC technician. Unfortunately, by the time I got home, most if not all HVAC businesses were closed in the area. I resigned myself to sleeping in hot and sweaty discomfort. I only had a small fan, which did not nearly help enough. By the time 6 a.m. hit and my alarm went off, I wasn’t even sure I had slept at all!. I considered my options. I have a pretty good attendance record at work. Unfortunately, when it comes to taking off, I am in a position of high responsibility. Nothing had come up in a good long while, and I decided that I would be taking the day off. My manager would just have to deal with it! Once I called in sick, I breathed a sigh of relief and got about my morning routine. I called an HVAC technician. What a relief when he said that he would be available later on in the afternoon at 5pm! I had snagged the one remaining spot for his appointments that day. If I had decided to be a soldier and go to work, I probably would have been too busy to make that HVAC call and wouldn’t have been able to actually get that same day appointment. Needless to say, I think I made the right choice staying home.
