I keep trying to remember that at least I got the whole family out to enjoy the leaves on a camping trip, and the fact that I had to make so many concessions just to make that happen has to be secondary to the main goal, still, I can’t believe I agreed to bring along a space gas furnace on a camping trip.
- When I was a kid, I could not wait to get out of the a/c of loft and out to the woods, but my dad was a big proponent of balancing life with some nature time, but he and I would go camping a lot and leave mom at loft inside the central a/c.
I am sure she loved having that time to herself as well. I saw many more beautiful leaf seasons thanks to my dad, and this was something I wanted my children to experience. I was so happy when I first brought up the idea to the family. And I was immediately dejected by how little interest my family had in leaving the a/c of the home for a camping trip. My kids need the internet and the heating and cooling comfort of the loft a bit too much in my estimation. That was made even more clear when the whining began about going camping. But I held firm because I knew this would be a genuinely cool experience for them. There’s really nothing to enjoy seeing peak color in leaf season where I come from. But to get that done, it included packing a space heater. And we had to go to a campground with bathrooms, showers and electricity, but essentially, we opted to go RV camping, however at least we were outside and the leaves were magnificent. So I am just going to focus on that.
