Sister fails to check into the credentials of our technician

A little over a year ago, my sibling Trisha replaced her home’s central cooling system… She was all excited about the SEER & Energy Star rating.

She was impressed with the manufacturer & the customer reviews, however trisha spent a fortune to get the latest features, including WIFI connectivity & variable-speed operation.

She was so certain that her bi-weekly electric bill would be cut in half & her house would be the epitome of comfort. She claimed that this air conditioning system would filter every particle of dust out of the air, & she’d rarely need to vacuum. To hear her talk, her family would never suffer another health complication because of the filtration gave by the air conditioning system; When I asked her about the experience & any guarantees provided by the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business who was handling the upgrade, she had no idea. Trisha had chosen the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business from an advertisement in the local paper. She called them, got an estimate & busy an upgrade date. She didn’t take the time to check their rating with the Better Business Bureau or look up customer reviews. She didn’t know if the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business was an authorized manufacturer’s company or if the servicemans were NATE-certified, EPA-certified or even licensed & insured. Trisha went ahead & had the air conditioning system installed. She had a lot of complaints with the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business. They showed up late, made a mess of her current home & took a long time to complete the task. They failed to explain the operation or features of the cooling system & didn’t help her with warranty registration.
