I spend a lot of money on air filters in the course of a year.
One of the reasons for this, is because I don’t have a regular central heating and air conditioning system.
I only have a central air conditioner and a furnace in the basement. That means 2 different kinds of air filters. The fact that I buy only the best in air filters, mostly HEPA air filters, means that I spend quite a bit. I had recently heard about washable air filters, so I wanted to try them. From what I read, having a bunch of washable air filters can cut when you spend in half, being able to reuse them a few times before having to throw them in the trash. I am not sure what happened, but I decided to try these washable air filters, and they were horrible! Maybe it was the brand I selected, I don’t know…but these things were not only impossible to wash, but when I started using these washable air filters, my allergies started going off the charts! It was almost like the washable air filters were causing extra dirt and dust allergens to flow through the ductwork and out the air vents, right into my home! After about a month of this, I decided to return the unused washable air filters to the store in which I bought them from. I demanded a full refund. I actually got the refund after arguing with the store. I may see if HEPA has washable air filters and try them someday. But for now, I am going back to my usual un-washable HEPA air filters!
