The heat is the worst part of summer. Here where I live, we start using the air conditioning by the middle of April. The heat seems to affect everything that we do here. You can hear the air conditioning coming slowly at first. By the end of May, the air conditioner is running all the time. I’m glad we’ve got a good air conditioning system that can keep us comfortable. It is highly efficient in both energy and cooling. Regardless of how hot it gets outside, our home is cool and comfortable. The problem we are having is that the energy bills are skyrocketing. We thought that by simply adjusting the thermostat, we could save energy. We did save some, but we couldn’t save enough to make the bills low enough to be able to afford. My wife thought that if we had a way to put blinds on the skylights, we could block some of the heat of the sun. We already had a Smart Thermostat and she had read that if we put in the proper blinds, we could have them open and close with the Smart Thermostat. The sun triggers when it is time to close the windows. When the sun gets lower, the blinds will reopen. With the Smart Thermostat and the smart blinds, we’re hoping that our energy bills will turn around. With all the research she has done, I’m sure she is right. Less heat from the sun getting into our home, means less air conditioning to cool the house. It is the perfect equation.
