Just seal up that house and save on HVAC costs

I have never much enjoyed the office party.

At least not when it is held in the office. Having a party of any kind in the space where you work just seems counter intuitive to me. I also hate watching people make complete asses of themselves. However, I got something this year at our office holiday party that really helped out. We do a secret Santa thing and my gift was a temperature gun. I pointed it at the HVAC vent on got an immediate read of the temperature of the air coming out. It seemed like something cool to put in my tool chest. However, after I got home, I started thinking about actually utilizing the thing to start saving me some money on the HVAC. Our home is older and it has a lot of gaps in areas that I knew were allowing cold air in and HVAC treated air out. So, I took the temp gun outside and started checking the exterior of my home. I was aghast at the amount of places where the inside heat was pouring out. It took me several days to mark each spot that was allowing HVAC air to escape. Then, it took me like three weekends to seal everyone of these spots. However, it was so well worth the effort. The first month after I sealed up the house tight, I saved 25 percent on the heating costs over the year before. Now, our home is really cozy. There isn’t even a hint of a draft any longer. And, I made good use of an office holiday party gift!
