About 10 years ago my husband and I decided that it was a good idea to upgrade our house.

We went with a geothermal heat pump rather than a traditional forced air furnace and AC system, and the geothermal heat pump is amazing because it transfers energy between your home and a system that is installed deep underground, and you pay a large amount of money to have the geothermal heat pump installed but it is basically free after that. Thank God the two of us invested in our geothermal heat pump at that point. In the past few years we have both lost our jobs and the lack of energy bills has been saving our asses. If you have extra money I suggest that you invest in a geothermal heat pump while it lasts.
