Most people are surprised when I show them my tattoo. I only ever got one, but it was something that meant a lot to me when I was young. I actually asked my parents if I could have a window A/C unit. I was happy when they said I could, but somewhat disappointed when they said I would have to buy it myself and I would have to contribute a percentage to the energy bills for using the A/C unit. When I thought about it, it was perfectly reasonable, yet I didn’t even make an allowance for doing chores. I ended up asking them if I could do extra chores for an amount of money to save up for a window A/C unit. They agreed and I worked hard mowing the lawn, splitting wood for the fireplace, and other chores I didn’t commonly do. My parents were pleased with my motivation and the work I was doing. They ended up giving me the whole amount for a really nice window A/C unit. That window A/C unit meant the world to me because I knew I earned it and I was so thankful for being able to be comfortable in my room. It helped me focus more when I was doing homework and it helped me to sleep way better at night. Of course, my parents didn’t like that I kept it on during the night, but fortunately there was a sleep timer. I could have it set to shut off one hour after I fell asleep, which was a useful energy saving feature. I ended up getting a tattoo of that window A/C unit on my arm, and people always laugh but admit that it is pretty cool.
