Got a prescription for ductwork cleaning

Nick March 14, 2022

I’m appreciative when it comes to my doctor but I really don’t like going to see her.

  • The HVAC cooling is always maxed out and I just don’t like being in a space where people are sicker than I am.

Plus, I’m just a bit chicken when it comes to the doctor anyway. But last winter, I finally had to go. I got like a cold around Thanksgiving. Of course, I was terrified that I had Covid but that was thankfully not the case. Still, I was stuck inside the HVAC heating of my house for weeks feeling like garbage. I was still working remotely so at least I didn’t have to motivate to get to the zone controlled HVAC of the office to work. Yet, the respiratory symptoms just wouldn’t fade away. They’d get a bit better and then wham, they’d get worse. My wife finally forced me to make a doctor’s appointment. When I first saw her, I figured she’d just give me some antibiotics or some other sort of med to finally kick the head and chest cold. But the prescription I received had nothing to do with medication. I ended up being told to call the HVAC company. This was the last thing I was really prepared to hear that day. But when she explained, it totally made sense. She suggested that I do two thing when it came to the HVAC. First, call the HVAC company and get the ductwork cleaning and ductwork resealing done. Second, go to the hardware store and replace the cheap HVAC air filters with a HEPA filter. My respiratory problems were due to poor indoor air quality was her opinion. I’d gotten a bug but the poor indoor air quality was limiting my healing.
