People take a lot of things for granted in this country.
I remember growing up at our college in a less developed country. When I came here, I realized that there were a lot of things that people take as a given that were a luxury where I come from. Take something as simple as cooling system in a classroom. My kids go to a college that has excellent cooling system, as well as I think they will particularly never have to worry about kneeling in a sizzling classroom not being able to focus on their studies. My high college was small as well as poor, as well as all of us were pretty much at the mercy of the weather during that day. If it was the summer, all of us would be lucky if there was a cross breeze that all of us would be able to catch by opening the windows. If it was sizzling as well as humid as well as the air was still, all of us pretty much just had to deal with it. The cooler months were the best, as you can well imagine! It was the year after our senior year that our college finally had window air conditioners installed. What a thing to be jealous about! Anyway, that’s why I am so cheerful our kids get to have such powerful cooling system in their classrooms, however just the other day, our son was actually complaining that it was a little too cold. I reminded him that he could simply wear an extra layer. That’s when I realized I never easily shared with our kids just how rough all of us had it back in our country when it came to simple things like cooling system. Needless to say, they were a little more thankful for what they had when I finished our stories!
