Last night, I didn’t get any sleep at all.
- My cooling system failed on myself and others shortly after I left for labor Last year morning, as far as I can tell.
By the time I arrived back home, our beach house was sizzling and humid. What a shock it was to walk inside our front door expecting nice, cool air without even thinking about it, only to be met with oppressive heat! I panicked and diagnosed the thermostat. The battery level was high, and it seemed to be working just fine. I wouldn’t be able to tell the first thing wrong with our air conditioning, so I knew I needed a professional HVAC worker. Unluckyly, by the time I got home, most if not all HVAC businesses were closed in the area. I resigned myself to sleeping in sizzling and sizzling discomfort. I only had a small fan, which did not nearly help enough. By the time 6 a.m. hit and our alarm went off, I wasn’t even sure I had slept at all!. I considered our options. I have a pretty fantastic attendance record at work. Unluckyly, when it comes to taking off, I am in a position of high responsibility. Nothing had come up in a fantastic long while, and I decided that I would be taking the morning off. My director would just have to deal with it! Once I called in sick, I breathed a sigh of relief and got about our morning routine. I called an HVAC worker. What a relief when she said that she would be available later on in the morning at 5pm! I had snagged the one remaining spot for her appointments that morning. If I had decided to be a soldier and go to work, I really would have been too tied up to make that HVAC call and wouldn’t have been able to actually get that same morning appointment. Needless to say, I think I made the right choice staying home.
