I work in a factory that gets really cold in the winter

My family is full of people who used to work in factories of some kind.

My dad worked in an auto factory while my grandfather was in a steel mill for several decades.

By the time I was ready to apply for college, I knew that I wasn’t cut out for academic life. I had a hard time working my way through high school with good grades. Often the best I could do in some classes was a C, even if my parents really wanted me to get Bs or As if they were really lucky. Despite some hypocrisy from my dad—as he never went to college either—he genuinely wanted to see me do more with my life than what he had done himself. When everyone realized that I wasn’t right for college life, they were okay with me getting a job in any capacity that I could. I started working for a gas station but it was my best friend from school who hooked me up with a job at the dog food factory. It paid better than any job I worked previously in high school, plus there was the opportunity for getting health benefits eventually after so many years at the company. The only thing I don’t really like about this factory is how cold it tends to get in the winter season. They don’t have the best heating systems as it’s an old building and the heating systems have been retrofitted over the years. It would be nice to work in a factory with radiant flooring, but I think that is out of the question.
