I started taking public transportation when I was in middle school so I could get around my big city without relying solely on my bicycle for travel. It’s really convenient, especially if you get a bus pass and can save on the travel fees. Once my brother and I took the bus as far as the aquarium in the city adjacent to the north. We were excited to be taking a bus trip without our parents for a change but they had shown us how to do it countless times. The two of us drained the money we had been individually saving from birthday and holiday presents to get admission to the aquarium and souvenirs from its gift shop. I bought a huge stuffed shark and my brother bought a coffee mug, a t-shirt, and some small toys that can be used as tinker devices. One thing that we liked about the bus, aside from the affordability and convenience, is that it always had good heating and cooling inside. We lived in a region of the country that always got four distinct seasons every year. If it was the middle of summer, the bus had the air conditioner running at full blast. However, usually winters were even more extreme than our summers. That meant all of the buses in the city needed good heating systems to keep all of the passengers warm on their trips from destination to destination. My brother and I were never cold when we rode the bus in autumn and winter in our hometown. Sometimes I miss the simplicity of public transit and the free time you get to yourself to read or work that you never get when you’re driving a car.
