I was certain that I wanted custom made furniture when I bought my house.
It seemed like the perfect idea and something I really wanted. It didn’t take long for me to realize that custom made furniture was extremely expensive, and it looked little better than what I could buy in the furniture store. I was told custom made furniture would last longer, and it would more abuse than most other furniture, but I liked what I had. I wanted to keep the furniture I already had. My boyfriend wasn’t happy when I changed my mind. His family came from a very affluent family tree, and we had to have only the best, but they did not bring me up that way. I told him that if he wanted custom made furniture, then he had to order it, but I wanted the stuff we already had. I enjoyed knowing where the furniture came from and it had family history. I tried not to say too much, but I’m sure he knew how I was feeling. He started saying something about ordering the custom made furniture for our home, but then he stopped. He asked me what I wanted, and I told him. I wanted to keep my hand-me-downs, and knowing it belonged to my grandparents and parents. I felt comfortable around the furniture and I always felt like I was home. He looked at me and said that was fine with him. He thought I wanted custom made furniture.
