I had been renting an house for the last two years… Earlier this past year, all of us were told the house building was being sold, however all of us could still stay in our apartments! We all signed our lease, but I was thinking all of us may have signed the leases much too hastily, and it was only numerous months into the current owner taking over, when all of us got notices that the central air conditioning unit was being disconnectd.

We thought he was going to replace the AC system since it was out-of-date. Instead, he simply took the central AC unit out of the building and never replaced it, he put electric meters in every house so all of us had to spend our money our own bills, and told us that if all of us wanted AC, all of us had to install a window air conditioning unit. I could not feel the swings this person was making. I could not afford the rent he was asking for, and an electric bill. I was already paying more rent than all the people I knew, but I at least I wasn’t paying electric bills when they were! The electric bills put myself and others way over budget. I had to find a way to save money, or get another apartment, then unblessedly, our lease wasn’t up for another numerous months, so I could not get another apartment. I could not afford to get the air conditioning unit. I had to go without air conditioning this summer, and I would get the current house when our lease ended. If I had a problem with lack of air conditioning, I knew I could go to our parents and spend a couple of afternoons.
