When I found out I was pregnant, we agreed I’d cut back my hours at work, and raise our child until they joined school. I was back at work on the exact day she went to school working full time and it felt great. But, I was also worried about her being with strangers all day. Come pick up time, I was early waiting to hear how it went, and she had the best time. Her hair and clothes were messy which I always take as a sign of a child who had the best time. Last winter, she had to stay home for one day because the heating system at school had failed. Man let me tell you, this little girl threw the mother of all tantrums. She couldn’t understand how we had heating in our home, and we refused to take it to school so she wouldn’t miss being with her teacher and friends. My daughter actually told her dad to remove the heating system at our home, and take it to school in his car. When they finally fix the system at her school, daddy could go back and take it. We tried our best to explain that’s not how things work, but she kept crying and saying we didn’t want her to be with her teacher. It took my sister coming for her to spend the day for our daughter to calm down. The teacher called later in the day to say the heating system was back on and I shared the hilarious events of that morning.
