I was in the basement doing laundry when I happened to look up.
I knew the ductwork was throughout the basement, but I had never certainly looked at it.
It was high enough that I did not need to duck to keep from hitting my head. I saw some dust come off the ductwork, which got my attention. When I looked up, I noticed there were some rust around the joints of the ductwork. There was also small spots of rust in other parts. The more I looked, the more rust I saw, & I was beginning to get upset. I knew I couldn’t afford new ductwork. Metal ductwork was fancy, & if it was rusting in the basement, where else was the rust. I feared ot was widespread throughout the entire ductwork system. When my spouse got home, I pointed the rust out to my spouse. He had the same problems I had. He quickly called the Heating & Air Conditioning supplier to have someone come out & check the ductwork. The Heating & Air Conditioning specialist said there was no way to know how widespread the rust was without going into the attic & looking into the walls. He said my associate and I could get a ductwork cleaningg crew to the house, & they could check with cameras. They could also clean the ductwork, & put some adhesive in that would help to seal the ductwork from the inside out. They would tell us if my associate and I needed to consider new ductwork, or if the rust was simply surface rust, which is what he was thinking. My friend and I had him call the ductwork cleaners while he was there.
