I thought radiant heated flooring was going to be the answer to my cold house. I knew radiant heating would be put under the flooring. The heat would heat the floors, and the heat would radiate into any surface that met with the floor. That meant my feet would always be warm. I didn’t think about how it was going to affect my kitchen, or the bedrooms. I enjoyed a cooler bedroom and thought turning the thermostat low would keep the bedroom cool. It kept the temperature down, but it was always warm in the bed. I didn’t like not finding any cool spots on the sheets or pillows. I couldn’t make a pie because the counters were too warm, and the butter would melt. I was always throwing the pie dough in the refrigerator to lower the temperature again. I was upset with my friends, becaus none of them liked my radiant heated flooring. I may not have liked it, but I didn’t think my friends should be so adamant about their dislike. They should have been polite. Before the next winter arrived, I had the radiant heat removed, and I went back to the regular furnace. It was a lot of wasted money, but I had to be comfortable in my home, and I wasn’t comfortable with radiant heated flooring. Maybe I should have stuck with the heat only in the bathrooms, like my husband suggested. I never did listen to him when he made suggestions, but maybe I should start. He was smart in so many ways, but I never noticed until the radiant heat debacle happened.
