I thought that I wanted nothing more than to live in the tropics when I got older.
My family visited the islands a few times while I was a kid, and it left an impression on me.
I really love the beaches and the water as well. However, I’m now living in the southernmost portion of my country, and I feel like it’s hotter than I ever could have imagined. It’s especially hot every year right around the time spring starts to transition into summer. Sometimes we get nice spring weather with cool temperatures in the 60s and seventies throughout the afternoon hours. But then there are other days where it gets so hot outside that you wonder whether or not it’s spring or summer. You really have to prepare for the summer season every year. One of the things that is a lifesaver in this region is a good air conditioner. It’s really not a choice if you want to survive the summer season. You could get a heat stroke in your house if it got so hot outside that you couldn’t get sufficient air circulation inside. My air conditioner is already 10 years old and it’s getting to a point where it’s going to need to be replaced in the next five or six years. It’s no longer under warranty so if anything serious happens to the machine I’m going to have to consider replacing it altogether. You just can’t survive in this region without a good air conditioner through the summer season. Sometimes we even get days in the winter where it’s so hot you need an air conditioner then too.
