My wife and I went to visit my mom and it was the first time that we were at her house in several years.
We visited every weekend for a while and then my wife and I moved to a different location and it was much more difficult to see my mom frequently. My mom was in the hospital for a while and I visited her there. When we went to the house last weekend, it was the first time we had been there in 3 years. I was surprised by the shape of the house. My mom had not been doing much at all to make sure that the house was in good condition. The inside of the house was a mess, but the outside of the house was in disrepair too. One thing that I noticed right away was the amount of water near the house. It rained the morning that my wife and I visited my mom and I could tell that the gutters needed to be replaced badly. The gutters probably needed to be replaced five or 10 years ago, but now they were falling apart and no longer working the way they should. I told my mom that the gutters needed to be replaced and I wanted to contact a contractor nearby to handle the job. My mom said she did not have money for an expensive contractor. I researched all of the materials needed to replace the gutters and I knew it was a job that was far too difficult for me to handle on my own. A roofing and gutter contractor was absolutely necessary, even if my wife and I had to help pay for the fees.
