The only reason my band and I continue returning to these bars to play our music, is that we hope to someday be able to make it big
Being a poor and upcoming musician means that you need to take a lot of bad gigs along with a few good ones. Performing in dives, otherwise known as cheap bars, is our main source of income. Over the past couple of years, my band and I have become used to performing in smoke filled bars. The cigarette smoke and stale scent of alcohol is part of the atmosphere and it makes for very bad air quality. I used to think that all these places would need is a good air purification system and they wouldn’t be so bad to play in. My band and I soon came to the conclusion that not even a good air purification system would work to improve the air quality. I would love to see the government ban smoking from all places where people gather, but I think all that would do is to close up a lot of businesses. What they would need is to have industrial strength air purifiers to improve the air quality of most of these bars. The only reason my band and I continue returning to these bars to play our music, is that we hope to someday be able to make it big. If we ever did get a record deal, I’m not sure I would be able to play in a bar with poor air quality. I do have to admit that with these honky tonks we wouldn’t have a chance at survival in the music business so maybe we would go back to a poor air quality bar, just to say thank you.
