Not too long ago, I had to file a lawsuit against the local HVAC company in our town.
I found out recently that I wasn’t the only person who filed a lawsuit against the same HVAC company, but that didn’t make me feel much better.
Many people lost their job because of the lawsuits. When the HVAC company had their third lawsuits filed against them, they had to go bankrupt. I’m not sure what happened with the other people, but for me it all started when I had a new air conditioning unit installed. The HVAC technician who did the installation didn’t have the best of training because he had several wires crossed. It took about a week for anything to happen, but luckily I was still awake when the wires sparked and caused a fire. If we had all been sleeping,, we may not have made it out of the house. I called my husband and told him I smelled smoke. By the time he got out of the shower, there were small flames coming through the wall. I had taken my son out of the house and called the fire company from the car. By the time my husband came out of the house with our wallets and some personals, the kitchen was engulfed and the fire was breaking through the upstairs floor. The insurance coming investigator told us it was due to faulty wiring of the air conditioning unit. The insurance company was the one to suggest that we sue the HVAC company. We sued them for loss of enjoyment of our home and ended up getting over $50,000 from the HVAC company.
