I’m an HVAC technician and I work for a local heating and cooling company here in town.
I’ve worked at the same local and family owned HVAC company here in town for the past several years, and I work lots of crazy hours.
When my wife and I got married, I warned her that my schedule doing furnace repairs and A/C maintenance would get really crazy sometimes. I guess she thought that I was kidding or something though, because my wife gets really mad at me now when I have to go out to do any emergency furnace or air conditioning calls. She seems to have forgotten that I’m the one who has to do all of the emergency HVAC maintenance calls. It’s my job, and if someone is having trouble with their oil furnace, their heat pump, or their radiant heated flooring, then I’m the one who has to go out and fix it. She doesn’t understand that, though. She says that someone else at the HVAC company should go out to do the emergency heating calls. Unfortunately, that’s the description of my job. I guess she just wants me to change jobs at the heating and cooling company where I work. But I love my job! However, I love my wife more than I love the HVAC company, so I guess I might ask my boss if I can change my hours or start doing something different. I guess me working all of these crazy hours as an HVAC technician must be hard on my wife, though.
