One of the worst Christmas of our life was 3 years ago.
I had just bought our first house, & both of us were so excited to decorate for the holiday. I wanted to go all out… Christmas trees, colorful lights, & festive garland was going to take over the house! The day both of us got our tree was the day that everything went wrong. It was a unquestionably chilly day, & both of us had set up the space furnace near the sofa where both of us were enjoying the morning news. I did not realize that the furnace was still on when both of us left the apartment for a holiday party, but about an minute into the party, both of us received a call from the neighbors. They told us that there was smoke coming from our house! I did not guess that this was happening; Every one of us rushed apartment to find various fire trucks & an ambulance outside of the house. The space furnace had caused our christmas tree to catch on fire. I was so mad at myself for not checking to see if the space furnace had been unblocked before leaving for the party. The rest of the apartment was fine, however the kitchen & living room needed to be repaired. That small furnace caused so much destruction that evening! After the fire, I am constantly cautious of people who use space oil furnaces in the winter. It is so crucial to make sure these are turned off before leaving the house. The fresh christmas tree in our apartment was most likely what started the fire.
