Dehumidifier reduces cost of air conditioning

The summer time weather in our local section is really brutal.

Despite the date on the calendar, the people I was with and I are faced with dire heat & humidity by the end of May.

The high temperatures & excessive moisture are a problem until late September. The cost of running the cooling system is a large drain on the budget. I’m typically looking for ways to improve comfort & trim expenses. I’ve taken every option to tighten up the house & prevent energy waste. I make sure to close the curtains during the morning to keep the glare of the sun from heating up the house. I’ve installed ceiling fans to help push the heat up toward the ceiling & minimize the workload of the cooling system. One of the most beneficial investments was the installation of a whole-house dehumidifier. I first consulted with a local Heating, Ventilation & A/C dealer & discussed the benefits of the several makes & models of dehumidifiers on the market. I wanted a device that would operate quietly & require honestly little repair. I’d tried portable dehumidifiers & found that they are constant work, but failing to empty the reservoir typically resulted in kneeling water & a source for contaminants. I was also hoping the dehumidifier would allow me to adjust moisture levels to preference. Incorporating the dehumidifier into the cooling plan has significantly improved the comfort of the home. I’ve been able to raise the control device setting by several degrees & yet the indoor environment feels cooler… Because the cooling system isn’t running as often or for as long of cycles, I’ve seen a drastic decrease in our weekly electric bill. Plus, the cooling system experiences less wear & tear & should last longer & operate more reliably.
