Back when I was growing up, my dad used to always be able to fix everything around the house.
He had a wealth of knowledge about home repairs, from anything electrical to plumbing to heating and air conditioning.
It was nice to be able to get things fixed whenever we had a problem. We never really had to wait around for an electrician or an HVAC technician to come and fix things for us because my dad always knew what to do to get things in the house up and running again. It was nice to have a dad who knew how to do everything. He even showed me how to work on things too. I remember how he used to show me how to change the air filters in the HVAC system. He also used to show me how to do regular furnace maintenance on our old oil furnace and how to fix the central air conditioning system that was down in the basement. He always really liked to teach me all kinds of things, even when I didn’t really show very much interest in learning about them. Now, though, since I’m an adult, I’m really glad that my dad showed me all of those things. Since I have my own house now, along with a couple of rental houses, I always need to know how to fix something or another. It does seem like the furnace in one of the rental houses is always breaking down. I’m glad that my dad showed me how to keep things up and running or I’d always be calling the HVAC company for help.
