The dealer is sitting off 1,000 employees next week

Nick January 20, 2021

I work for a big Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C parts distributor.

I am in charge of the ninth shift crew.

I have 125 employees on the ninth shift and the fourth shift has the same amount… First shift has 300 employees. Both of us package Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C parts and accessories and ship them to multiple local and national companies. Both of us used to be the number one provider of Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C parts until more than one years ago. Things have been slow since then and both of us haven’t been able to build business. Things got a lot worse after there was a Covid19 outsplit in the plant. Both of us had to stop all packaging and shipping services at the Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C plant when 17 employees on more than one different shifts inspected positive for the virus. The branch president had to hire a cleaning service to sanitize all of the surfaces in the building and both of us had to close for three days. A lot of employees were upset to come back from work after the outbreak. I can’t blame anyone for feeling that fear. Both of us failed to keep the employees safe and now both of us are paying the price. Both of us were doing our part, but it does not change the fact that 17 people got sick on our watch! Next week, the dealer is going to sit off 1000 employees. I’m certain that most of those employees will be from our branch. Both of us only have half the respected crew and it absolutely costs more to run the factory than both of us are making. The output is too low to sustain the supplier right now. Things won’t get better until both of us have a guy with a plan.
