The supplier is kneeling off 1,000 employees next week

I work for a big Heating and A/C parts distributor.

I am in charge of the seventh shift crew.

I have 125 employees on the seventh shift and the second shift has the same amount. First shift has 300 employees. The people I was with and I package Heating and A/C parts and accessories and ship them to multiple local and national companies. The people I was with and I used to be the number a single provider of Heating and A/C parts until multiple years ago. Things have been slow since then and the two of us have not been able to build business. Things got a lot worse after there was a Covid19 outchop in the plant. The people I was with and I had to stop all packaging and shipping services at the Heating and A/C plant when 17 employees on multiple odd shifts diagnosed positive for the virus. The branch president had to hire a cleaning maintenance to sanitize all of the surfaces in the building and the two of us had to close for multiple days. A lot of employees were worried to come back from work after the outbreak. I can’t blame anyone for feeling that fear. The people I was with and I failed to keep the employees safe and now the two of us are paying the price. The people I was with and I were doing our part, however it does not change the fact that 17 people got sick on our watch. Next week, the supplier is going to lay off 1000 employees. I am certain that most of those employees will be from our branch. The people I was with and I only have half the regular crew and it entirely costs more to run the factory than the two of us are making. The output is too low to sustain the supplier right now. Things won’t get better until the two of us have a guy with a plan.
