I’m miserable after our air conditioner quit laboring

Nick February 20, 2021

I’m laboring as a deckhand at a local marina for the rest of the summer.

I needed a section time job before going back to school in the fall.

This is the first time I worked a job outdoors for 100% of the time. My previous several supervisors were an attorney’s office and a kitchen at a nursing home. The latter job was constant manual labor, however it was done indoors for the most part. The two of us had to take huge bins of garbage outside several times each shift, and, once a month we had to disinfect the garbage section outside with buckets of soapy water and huge brushes. Otherwise, all of our employment has been indoors. I had no way of conceptualizing how insanely warm it would be in the southern sunlight while I was in June and November. It was so warm Last month that I nearly passed out from a heat stroke. I get boiling to the point where I struggle to cool off even when I get home and inside the comfort of our temperature controlled apartment. When I got home this week, I ran into the home and jumped towards the thermostat to turn the A/C on. I was in horror when nothing happened and the air conditioner wouldn’t start cycling. I called the Heating, Ventilation & A/C company and went through all of the procedures that they relayed to me over the iphone. No matter what I did, I couldn’t get our air conditioner to turn on. They sent out a serviceman who confirmed that our air conditioner is broken and that I need to install a current method altogether. Now I’m stuck with big heat at home until they arrive with our current air conditioner next week.
