Discovering the role ventilation plays in my HVAC’s efficiency

I live in a humid area which means that owning a dehumidifier is not surprising for most people in my neighborhood.

I never thought about this unit’s role in supporting my HVAC system work optimally until the day it broke down.

I had the dehumidifier off for a few hours since it was being repaired; I noticed that the house was abnormally humid despite the air conditioning unit. The temperature levels were uncomfortably high even when the fan was on, not to mention that the HVAC unit was on all the time. The air in the room did not feel fresh as it usually would. I had to ask the HVAC professional that was sent over to look at the dehumidifier. Our conversation took an interesting turn when I learned that ventilation is a crucial part of the heating and cooling process of any HVAC unit. While some of the systems can comfortably handle the ventilation without any extra assistance, especially in areas where the humidity levels are average, other units need external dehumidifiers. These dehumidifiers and sometimes humidifiers, in extremely dry conditions, help balance the humidity levels required to attain comfortable temperature levels in any space. The bonus gain is that it helps achieve cleaner and fresher air that supports better health. My takeaway lesson from the conversation was that you need to talk to the right experts every time you have an HVAC unit installed. Several factors must be considered at any given time. When deciding to install a cooling and heating system for your home, seek professional guidance to make an informed choice right from the start.
