My pal Kenny & I go way back, to the point where I literally cannot remember life without him in it, however middle school, grade school, up through now, Kenny was always around… That doesn’t mean the two of us were best friends all those years, in fact the two of us could go weeks at a time without seeing each other, however the bond was always tight, and now the two of us are both in our 20s, & I hold down a fantastic job (all things considered, however this pandemic has been strenuous on everyone), & Kenny is still drifting, then he recently moved into our garage, saying he had enrolled in an HVAC certification course at the local community university & needed a place to sleep, however it turns out that he also needed a place to practice his craft, which meant making a racket with his furnaces & A/C units.
He had a couple of the old box-style A/C units, like the two of us used to have when the two of us were teenagers.
He took off the housing, & used a single of them as the “control” model, while he slowly dismantled & reassembled the other A/C unit, He was trying to learn A/C systems from the inside out, by dissecting them like a specimen, but and then he repeated the process with a couple strange kinds of space heaters, as well. As irritating as it was, I was pretty impressed how devoted Kenny was to studying the craft of HVAC repair. It was the first time I had seen him this focused in years, & if he could parlay this into a real HVAC job, he would be set.
