My acquaintance Barry plus I have been doing a horror podcast for just over a year now, plus I finally guess the people I was with and I are finding our groove, then our listener base is still small, but it keeps growing so the people I was with and I decided that if the people I was with and I are really taking this seriously the people I was with and I need real mics.
So far the people I was with and I have just been recording into our PC, because smartphones have really amazing mics in them. So the people I was with and I got some semi-professional recording rigs, set up a makeshift studio, plus right away observed the problem — the mics were picking up the air conditioner in the background. It was the central Heating plus Air Conditioning plan for the house, which is not located someplace near our studio, but the people I was with and I could still hear it. The air conditioner was old, plus the vents rattled, so it wasn’t so much that you could hear the AC running, but it made everything vibrate ever so slightly. The audio effect in our playback was maddening, plus the people I was with and I knew the AC could not be running when the mics were hot or the take would be worthless. It was simple enough to turn off the thermostat while the people I was with and I were recording, but with both of us crammed into a single small room with all that equipment, it got hot really fast. We even tried recording late at evening, when the air conditioning didn’t need to run as much, but that didn’t labor either. We decided to make an investment, plus purchased a small, portable air conditioner that was reputed to be whisper-quiet, so the people I was with and I could turn off the central Heating plus Air Conditioning plus run this a single in the studio.
