My neighbor Barry plus I have been doing a horror podcast for just over a year now, plus I finally guess we are finding our groove, and our listener base is still small, however it keeps growing so we decided that if we are easily taking this seriously we need real mics.

So far we have just been recording into our iPhone, because smartphones have easily amazing mics in them. So we got some semi-professional recording rigs, set up a makeshift studio, plus immediately noticed the complication — the mics were picking up the A/C in the background. It was the central Heating plus A/C plan for the house, which is not located anywhere near our studio, however we could still hear it. The A/C was old, plus the vents rattled, so it wasn’t so much that you could hear the AC running, however it made everything vibrate ever so slightly. The audio effect in our playback was maddening, plus we knew the AC could not be running when the mics were tepid or the take would be worthless. It was simple enough to turn off the thermostat while we were recording, however with both of us crammed into a single small room with all that equipment, it got hot easily fast. All of us even tried recording late at night, when the A/C didn’t need to run as much, however that didn’t labor either. All of us decided to make an investment, plus purchased a small, portable A/C that was reputed to be whisper-quiet, so we could turn off the central Heating plus A/C plus run this a single in the studio.
