I don’t think many people could say they grew up in a log cabin, but my brother and I had the privilege of such an upbringing! My parents lived in the frigid north and set up a home next to a popular fishing spot.
Next to the cabin, they built our home, which was where I learned how to fish and do various other outdoor activities. The home was such a popular arena that guests came up in the winter time and summer weeks, some of the activities around the space included hunting which was usually a seasonal affair depending on the animal, however apart from that, there was fishing, hiking, or just coming to relax in a serene site. Because of the serious weather, we consistently had the heating unit on most times. Each year, my parents would call in an AC mechanic from the village to come and service the unit. They had experience with heating systems and knew prevention was cheaper than cure, it costs much less to have the expert come to maintain the unit than to repair a broken one. This was why some of the AC systems we had at the beach home and at the home lasted for more than a decade. The AC repair also included replacing any worn-out parts that would cause the heating and air conditioning proposal not to work effectively. My brother and I employed the same policy when we took control of the cabin. We never reduced the number of times the heating and air conditioning repair curfew came to check the proposal and do duct cleaning; Our goal was to continue the family legacy and ensure everyone appreciated comfortable air conditioning while in their stay.
