I don’t suppose how many people could say they grew up in a log cabin.

But my sibling and I had the privilege of such an upbringing.

My parents lived in the cold north and set up a cottage next to a popular fishing spot. Next to the cottage, they built our home, which was where I learned how to fish and do so numerous other outdoor activities, then the cottage was such a popular locale that guests came up in the winter and summer months, but some of the activities around the area included hunting which was usually a seasonal affair depending on the creature. Apart from that, there was fishing, hiking, or just coming to relax in a serene locale. Because of the dire weather, we always had the heating device on most times. Each year, my parents would call in an A/C mechanic from the neighborhood to come and repair the unit. They had experience with gas furnaces and knew prevention was cheaper than cure, it costs much less to have the expert come to maintain the device than to repair a broken one. This was why some of the A/C systems we had at home and at the cottage lasted for more than a decade. The A/C repair also included replacing any worn-out parts that would cause the heating and air conditioning plan not to work effectively. My sibling and I employed the same policy when we took control of the cottage. We never reduced the number of times the heating and air conditioning repair curfew came to check the plan and do duct cleaning, however our goal was to continue the family legacy and ensure pretty much everyone enjoyed comfortable air conditioners while we were in their stay.
