There was something going wrong with my thermostat, but I wasn’t honestly sure what it was, and i ended up feeling honestly stupid whenever I finally found out the real issue; Every single evening, I found myself waking up perspiring and burning hot.
I would have to throw off all the covers and really get up and open a window or turn on the fan and this is the middle of winter! I thought it was so unusual that I was having these terrible boiling flashes in the middle of the evening until I realized that the heating was really turning on and running for minutes at a time in the evening while I was sleeping.
I didn’t even guess to check the thermostat because whenever I went to bed or got up the thermostat settings were right where I had left them and my loft was comfortable and cool. I don’t even savor using the heat very much in the Winter and I tend to keep the thermostat set around 65 degrees or so, year round… So whenever I realized what the issue was, I was very surprised. See, the thermostat is relatively current and I will admit that I didn’t take that much time to familiarize myself with the way that it worked when I first had it installed by the HVAC dealer, however he tried to tell myself and others what I needed to do to make sure the settings were right, but I honestly wasn’t listening. I guess I should not have been surprised when I found out that the heating settings were preset to turn on and run during the evening when I was sleeping!
