I just hate junk.
This goes back to being raised by a mother who was very nearly a straight up hoarder.
The house I grew up in was stacked with boxes of junk that my mom simply wasn’t able to part with. It was a nice enough house with good heating and cooling in a nice setting. The house would have been roomy too if it weren’t for all the junk. When I moved out, I promised that I wouldn’t let stuff have the emotional hold over me that it clearly did for my mom. And I’ve kept to that. Even in the early apartments with the sketchy heating and cooling, I was always vigilant when it came to clutter. That has also been the case in this house. My wife and I have a lovely home with the best quality heating and air I’ve ever had. The place is plenty big for just the two of us and our pets. It’s a three bedroom and one of those bedrooms we turned into a home office. But the other one is sort of a spare room with a fold out couch for guests if they want to stay overnight. However, I started seeing the early signs of a junk room growing on us. And my wife said that this part of the house was fine for storage since the HVAC wasn’t the best in there. That was true. But I wasn’t about to let that be the reason we start storing junk. So I had the HVAC company come out to tweak our HVAC unit so we now have zone controlled HVAC. And that room is no longer a junk room.
