My boss hired a current guy to work at the heating and a/c repair shop.
I knew the two of us were going to get a current employee, because the boss has been looking for weeks.
Summer is right around the corner. My co-workers and I do not want to work every single weekend, so the two of us urged the boss to hire a couple of current men to work on the weekends. It was hard to find someone that was willing to work every weekend. The boss hired multiple current men to join the business. I’m not easily impressed with either a single of the candidates. I worked with a single of the current men on Wednesday. The multiple of us went downtown to help with a commercial boiler repair. The current guy did not know anything at all about the commercial boiler. He looked really lost. When I came back to the workshop, I pulled my boss aside to talk about the employee. My boss claimed that the guy had multiple years of commercial Heating and Cooling experience, but I did not know that was true. That guy did not seem easily expertiseable at all. With 3 years of experience in commercial heating applications, the guy should have been ready to go when the boiler repair was presented to us. Instead, he did not know where to begin. The current guy is going to need a lot of training before he can handle repair calls on his own separate from another employee to help. I honestly wish my boss would have called the jobs and references on the guy’s application.
