One of the reasons why my wifey and I bought this residence is because of the skylight in the residing room.
The skylight has an attractive view of the Moon and the trees.
I’ve constantly liked to rest on the couch and look up out of the skylight, and even when it’s raining, it can be especially cool and neat to watch the rain falling on the window pane. The glass is reinforced with two thick sheets of glass and heavy rubber seals so water never can make its way through. Regrettably, water wasn’t the concern with the skylight last time there was a storm. A tree entirely fell through the skylight and directly into the residing room… My wifey and I were in the residing room when it happened. We heard the lightning hit the tree and after that I heard a pretty large crack. We could sincerely feel the change in atmospheric pressure when the tree came down on the skylight. The glass was everywhere and half of the roof was totally missing. The tree took out the entire corner of our residence along with the television, christmas tree, and a bookshelf. I couldn’t get up on the roof and put on a tarp. It was too wet and I am afraid of heights. I’m so glad that we found an emergency roofing company to set up temporary shelter over the hole. The emergency roofing service company put several large heavy tarps over the hole and secured the place with straps and plastic sheeting. They recommended that we have a conversation with our insurance company regarding the covered losses and damages, but we had to pay them out of pocket for their costly services.
