Cake decorating, need AC

Cake decorating, need AC

Nick February 16, 2024

Sometimes I get into a new hobby, and the new hobby really gets into me as well.

While I feel like I’ve found a fun new activity, the task becomes ingrained in my being and I cannot stop thinking about my new hobby! At that point, it becomes a full obsession.

I get addicted to the task and I’m a goner for sure. That’s exactly where I’m at right now, after making an elaborate cake for my best friend’s baby shower. I realized that I absolutely loved the baking and decorating that afternoon, and within a few months I had opened my own cake decorating business. I love my new work whole-heartedly, but I’m now having to invest in my home infrastructure to improve my craft. Why? Because I need more AC up in here! I realized quickly that the air conditioning system was incapable of keeping the air as cool as I would like as I decorated my intricate pastry creations. One day as I attempted to roll the fondant and apply the icing, both components were literally melting and falling off. I continually turned down the thermostat, hoping that the central cooling system would be able to bring the air temperature down to a target 65 degrees, but I could not. Now I’m thinking about expanding my central cooling system in order to pump the kitchen full of cool, dry air. I already contacted the AC company, and they agreed that a second condenser would solve my issue. It’s going to cost me a lot of cake money, but think a second AC unit is the only way to keep my deserts beautiful and my customers happy.
