Way back in the day we didn’t have fancy air conditioning units and you had to go jump in the lake to cool down in the summer.
Way back in the day we also did not have the same level of ventilation that is present in today’s HVAC units.
People have a lot of flexibility and control over when and how their home is heated and cooled. Way back in the day we didn’t have hydronic heating or ductless air conditioning unit. We certainly did not have smart thermostats, or really even digital thermostats for that matter. Way back in my day and age we mostly just had a furnace down below the house. We did not have ductless mini-splits. Some people in the neighborhood did have heated floors. Other people in the business world may have had air conditioning installed in order to maintain product temperature and reduce spoilage or other forms of decay. I certainly don’t see spoilage as a good thing. However, flexibility and control can amount to a lot on the energy bill according really to other factors. It makes everything so complicated. What about the pets? How often should I call the HVAC technician? What is the name of our HVAC provider? And all the bills! I like the simple life back in the day. But I will still use my smart thermostat and ductless mini split HVAC unit with air conditioning and heater because I made it to this day and age and therefore I deserve to live it up!
