I am the kind of person who likes to rebel against common societal norms.

I don’t like authority.

I don’t like doing what is common. I want to be unique. I want to be different. And I will fight for my ability to do so. However, when I say that, I do have limitations to how much I want to be different. My dad apparently doesn’t understand that some things should always remain the same. For instance, I don’t want to be unique in the way I dress during Winter, but I have to. My dad loves keeping the furnace set to about 90 degrees. Can you believe that! That is way too warm. During the Winter, we are hotter than we are during the Summer. It is hot enough to sweat in my house with that furnace. It forces me to break the norms and wear just shorts around the house. This is completely impractical. When I leave the protection of the furnace and have to go outside, I either have to freeze to death or change my clothes, neither of which should be necessary. My dad must spend a fortune on his gas bill to keep that furnace running like that. During the Summer, its cooler because we live in the North and don’t require any heater, but we also don’t own an air conditioner. It is amazing. I just wish my dad would be normal and set the thermostat so that everyone would be comfortable. I just want to wear pants and a t-shirt during the Winter. Is that too much to ask?
