Heat Pumps Are Now My Furnace

Nick August 16, 2019

I just experienced the final long, cold winter up north.

My entire adult life had been spent battling these winters. I’ve never really gotten used to living in the cold. It has always been way more about enduring the winter than anything else. The furnace is my only friend during the winter. I have tried to find the good about the cold. Skiing was okay but it took me days to thaw out after. The snow is nice to play in for about 20 minutes and then I’m over it. There just really isn’t a thing about winter that I am going to miss. And that includes a white Christmas. No longer will I have to worry about the furnace or pay those exorbitant energy bills during the winter. A heat pump will now be replacing that furnace as I moving south. The sun and kinder temperatures is just what I need. There will no longer be any shoveling or throwing down salt for me. I will happily just move the heat pump switch from cool to heat. We moved south during the spring, just before the summer set in. The summers here are hot but so much easier to endure than the cold of a 7 month winter. Our heat pump does a tremendous job of cooling our home. I was impressed how efficiently the HVAC system in our new home was. The peak summer utility bill was still far less than what I spent most months heating my home up north. I’m so glad to be where we are now and I’m glad that I have the heat pump to keep me both cool and warm.
