Last week, we had girls’ night at my friend Kim’s house.
I decided that I was just going to stay over after the other women left for the night since I had a really long drive back to my house.
During dinner with all of our other friends, the air conditioning suddenly stopped working. The temperature in the house didn’t start heating up too much at first, but by the time everyone else left, the thermostat temperature reading was as 79 degrees. Since Kim and I both like it cold, that was way too high of a temperature for us to deal with! We messed around with the thermostat for a while but we couldn’t get anything to happen. Kim and I finally went down to the furnace room in her basement where the HVAC system is. We banged around on the A/C for a while, and we moved a couple of pieces that we thought looked suspicious, but we still couldn’t get the air conditioning to come back on. We finally gave up and spent a long, hot, sleepless night without any A/C. The next morning, we didn’t even have coffee because it was so hot in Kim’s house. Eventually, Kim ended up calling the local HVAC company to have them come and check out the air conditioning. It turns out that we made the problem even worse by trying to fix it ourselves. I guess we should’ve just called the HVAC technicians to come check things out to start with. It would’ve saved us time and trouble!
