For years I have wanted to get promoted at my place of work.
Short of asking for the job, I did not know what to do.
In order to gain confidence and learn how to make myself seem like management material, I went to a few leadership workshops. It sounds kind of hokey that I did leadership development services. I have to say though, it turned out to be a great thing. I did a lot of exercises and confidence building scenarios. I also got to do mock situations where I pretended to ask for my promotion. The business coach running the seminar also worked with me one on one. One on one business coaching allowed me to understand how to make myself seem right for the upcoming promotion. I learned how to dress, prepare my portfolio and I got the confidence to talk to my boss about the job. I got the promotion with little to no difficulty. Without business coaching or my leadership workshop, I would have been a sweaty mess. I also would not have had the confidence to confront my boss. It turned out to be a really good thing for me. I highly recommend anyone who is stuck in a rut and wants to move forward to consider leadership seminars. They help force you out of your comfort zone and understand what skills you bring to the table. I feel like a valuable and effective member of my company for once. It has been such a great, rewarding experience. Everyone who worked with me was experienced, knowledgeable and very nice.
