Everybody knows that my boss plays favoritism with his kid.
We all try not to get too upset about it, because the guy owns the company.
Jack is the boss’s son and he started working here five weeks ago. Of course, the guy gets a two hour lunch everyday with daddy. There isn’t really anything that we can do. If we complain, then we look like whiny brats and if we do nothing, then we get all of the crappy HVAC repair jobs. That is what has been happening lately. I used to get a couple of tune-ups and insulations every now and then. Now I only get tune-ups and all of the installation jobs seem to go to Jack. The installation jobs pay a little bit more money, and I liked having the extra money on my paycheck. Ever since Jack started working at the HVAC repair business, he has been assigned to every installation job with one other employee. A couple of other guys have noticed the trend too. I’m not the only person complaining. There is a group of us that are upset about the way that the boss is treating the rest of the staff. Now that it’s starting to affect our paycheck regularly, I think one of us should say something. I just don’t want that person to be me. I absolutely need this job and there are only two other HVAC repair businesses in the region. I can’t afford for the guy to blackball me and keep me from getting a job. All I can do is complain in the dark and behind closed doors.
